Blakey Lane extension

Project: Blakey Lane in Bastrop will be extended from Edward Burleson Lane to a proposed street called Reed Way south from Reed Way to an intersection at Old Austin Highway with roundabout options.

Update: The initial design phase is underway by Austin-based The Goodman Corp., according to the city of Bastrop.
  • Timeline: scheduled to begin construction March 16
  • Cost: $7 million-$8 million
  • Funding source: transportation impact fees, roadway maintenance fees, and water and wastewater fees
Hwy. 71 and Tucker Hill Lane intersection improvements


Project: The Texas Department of Transportation will begin a signalized intersection at Tucker Hill Lane into a grade-separated overpass and construct new one-way frontage roads. The project also includes expanded accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians.

Update: A groundbreaking ceremony was held Oct. 28. Jordan Foster Construction will complete the project, according to TxDOT.

Agnes Street extension

Project: Agnes Street in Bastrop is being extended to connect developments south of Hwy. 71.

Update: The city plans to announce a date for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to the city of Bastrop.
  • Timeline: expected to finish construction Jan. 30, 2026
  • Cost: $5.27 million
  • Funding source: Texas General Land Office Community Development Block Grant Mitigation grant awarded to the city in May 2021
Old Iron Bridge rehabilitation


Project: The pedestrian and bicycle route in Bastrop is undergoing a full rehabilitation, including a concrete deck and steel truss components, and the installation of railing and decorative lights.

Update: Eastbound traffic on the Loop 150 bridge will remain closed to accommodate the rehabilitation of the Old Iron Bridge through February, according to the city of Bastrop.
  • Timeline: expected to finish construction Sept. 11, 2026
  • Cost: $10.1 million
  • Funding source: certificates of obligation series 2018, 2023 and 2025
Farm, Linden and Water streets improvements

Project: Crews will reconstruct pavement along the primary sections of Farm, Linden and Water streets in Bastrop.

Update: The initial construction phase is underway, according to the city of Bastrop.
  • Timeline: construction begins in November
  • Cost: $4.36 million
  • Funding source: 2023 and 2023 certificates of obligation

290 extension project

Project: The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is working with the Texas Department of Transportation on a schematic design to reduce congestion along 15 miles of Hwy. 290 between Hwy. 130 and Hwy. 95 South.

Update: A public survey concluded Oct. 10, according to the Mobility Authority.
