More lanes are closed around the overpass at SH 21 and Hwy. 290 in Paige as repairs continue.

How we got here

Restorations to the overpass started after it was damaged by a towed construction excavator on April 24, according to an announcement by officials with Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 2.

Traffic was diverted on both highways near the overpass into the evening while crews worked to clean the roads of debris.

Since then, the westbound lanes of SH 21 have been closed.

What's happening

On July 10, additional closures began, including the eastbound lanes of SH 21 and Hwy. 290 at the intersection, said Kellen Mohrmann, an area representative for the Texas Department of Transportation.

"The bridge repairs will be completed this fall 2024, weather permitting," Mohrmann said, noting the lane closures will remain in effect until then. "We do not have a detour map, but detour signs [are] posted."
