An active adult community is coming to Bastrop County, providing residents age 55 and older with dedicated housing and lifestyle amenities.

Del Webb, a brand under PulteGroup that has constructed dozens of these active adult communities across the country, broke ground on its latest residential space during a ceremony July 10.

The multiphase development, Del Webb Lost Pines, is located in The Colony and will feature 503 lots across approximately 160 acres, said Pablo Rivas, division president of PulteGroup Central Texas.

The approach

Bryan Beil, the vice president of land acquisition for PulteGroup, told Community Impact how Del Webb Lost Pines will be the second of its kind within an hour's drive of Austin.

“We’ve been up in Georgetown with our Del Webb brand for close to 30 years now, and we have really been trying to find another pocket of the Austin metropolitan statistical area,” he said. “I think for the longest time, Bastrop was on our radar. Its proximity to the airport, small-town charm and just the number of 55-plus households that live in this area made it feel like a great opportunity for us.”

The process of putting it all into action, Biel emphasized, began about two years ago.

“The rest is history,” he said.

The specifics

The first phase will include six model homes, which crews will begin work on by mid-August, followed by a 10,000-square-foot amenity center. A second and third phase will tackle construction of the 503 lots, Beil said.

“We’re going to close on our first phase of lots by the end of this year, and then about a year and a half later, the next phase will be delivered,” Beil said.

Rivas stressed how Del Webb Lost Pines is about building more than a beautiful house.

“It’s about creating a place where people truly belong,” he said.

For Del Webb Lost Pines, that means strategically incorporating a variety of amenities:
  • Pickleball
  • Bocce
  • Resort-style pool
  • Golf simulator
  • Fitness center
  • Ballroom
“We’ve been working really hard on designing the amenity center, and we really wanted this Del Webb to feel modern but still add in that Hill Country feel into the vibes here,” said Ashley Ellis, vice president of sales at PulteGroup.

Also of note

Across the 503 lots, there will be three home collections ranging from 1,200 square feet to just a little over 2,700 square feet, Rivas said.

“We’re proud to be planting our roots here and becoming a part of the Bastrop community,” Rivas said.
