Bastrop County Commissioners Court approved a $907,500 contract with The Roof Co. Waco to repair the Bastrop County Courthouse’s aging roof—a project aimed at preserving the historic landmark for years to come.
The base bid was $825,000 with a 10% contingency, $82,500, for a total construction cost of $907,500. The estimated construction cost for the roofing work was projected to be $931,411, according to county documents.
About the project
Base work for the roof repair project will include:
- Asbestos and lead abatement
- Limited masonry restoration work
- Painting
- Removal of the existing metal roof and installation of a new one made of modern materials
- Replacement of all of the roof’s drainage parts, such as the gutters and downspouts, so water flows properly
- Replacement of the roof hatch, which provides access to the roof
- Removal and restoration of the building’s lightning protection system
