The city of Bastrop is slated to launch a new program called Fridays, Art, Market and Entertainment, or F.A.M.E., days in February.

The details

Michelle Limas, the cultural arts coordinator for Discover Bastrop, told Community Impact the free monthly event will feature a different theme each month.

The first F.A.M.E. Days event on Feb. 6 will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. along Pine Street in downtown Bastrop, which will be closed to traffic from Main Street to Water Street, according to the city of Bastrop.

The theme, Limas highlighted, is centered around Black History Month with an emphasis on the following:
  • Legacy and love
  • Creativity
  • Community pride
“This evening will feature a community heritage spotlight where local leaders, creatives and change makers share personal reflections that honor the past and inspire future generations with legacy stories,” she said.

Also of note

In addition to legacy stories, Limas noted that there will be a variety of other activities and offerings, including:
  • Live entertainment, such as a DJ
  • Art showcases
  • Market vendors
  • Line dancing
  • Pop-up dancers
The city of Bastrop is accepting market vendor applications online.

Notable quote

“This inaugural F.A.M.E. Days event is more than a celebration—it is a space to connect, uplift, and experience the heart of our community,” Limas said.
