The details
The project is estimated to cost approximately $9.7 million, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Officials previously cited limited space for the Development Services department at its existing location at 211 Jackson St. in Bastrop, as the facility also houses the tax assessor-collector.
“There is not enough space for the demands of the county,” according to the latest Capital Improvement Plan for Bastrop County. “Moving the Development Services department to their own building and renovating the [existing] building will allow the tax assessor-collector to utilize the entire building they are currently housed in.”
Some context
The Development Services department ensures compliance with county regulations and state law by overseeing several project aspects, including:

The new facility for the Development Services department, estimated to be completed by Dec. 1, 2026, will be located at 203 Jackson St. in Bastrop, according to the filing with TDLR.
