Vacancies include but are not limited to:How it works
Interested individuals can apply at any time through the city’s website, regardless of whether a vacancy is currently available.
Bastrop Public Information Officer Colin Guerra said if there is no immediate opening, applicants will be placed on a waitlist for future vacancies.
Applicants can select up to three boards or commissions, ranked in order of preference. The application includes questions about the applicant's interest in the position, relevant experience, education and what they hope to contribute to the community.
Most board and commission terms last three years; however, the following are for two years:
- Construction Standards Board of Adjustments and Appeals
- Zoning Board of Adjustments
- Main Street Advisory Board
Residents who prefer not to join a board or commission, but still want to stay involved, can attend any of the upcoming Sit with Sylvia gatherings, held during the last week of each month.
The next session is scheduled for March 27 at 7:30 a.m. at Bastrop City Hall, 1311 Chestnut St.
Over time, the event has gained popularity and engagement, attracting residents to the informal yet informative discussion series, Guerra said.
Attendees ask a range of questions, from upcoming developments in the area to issues affecting their neighborhoods.
Those who are unable to attend in person can attend virtually by emailing [email protected] for a login link.
