Bastrop city officials are partnering with Calvary Episcopal Church-Bastrop to open an overnight warming shelter this week as the freezing weather blows in.
The details
The warming shelter will be at the Parish Hall at 1028 Main St., Bastrop. It will be open:
- Feb. 19, 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
- Feb. 20, 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
Bastrop Public Information Officer Colin Guerra said officials with the Bastrop Fire Department and Bastrop Police Department will continue to check on at-risk residents during the upcoming freeze.
Those who would like to be added to the at-risk list, or have a family member added, can contact the Bastrop Fire Department at 512-332-8670 or the Bastrop Police Department at 512-332-8600.
What else?
Pastor Roland Nava of In The Streets Hands Up High Ministries, will open a separate warming shelter and soup kitchen at 987 SH 95 N., Bastrop, starting Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
Nava said the shelter will be open 24 hours until 9 a.m. on Feb. 23. Those in need can reach out by phone at 512-317-7503.
“It does not matter if you need a place to come to at 11 at night, or at midnight or 1:00 a.m., we are here to be of service to you all,” Nava said. “We do guarantee you a hot meal, a warm bed, and a place to shower.”
