The Texas Department of Transportation and the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority are accepting comments on proposed improvements to about 15 miles of Hwy. 290 until Oct. 30.
About the project
The two government entities are evaluating the feasibility of extending tolled main lanes alongside existing nontolled lanes, adding signalized intersections, and enhancing pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure along Hwy. 290 to ease congestion as the area's population continues to grow, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
The project would extend the 290 Toll from its current end point near SH 130 in Travis County to east of SH 95 South in Bastrop County.
TxDOT and the Mobility Authority are conducting an environmental study and preparing a schematic design for the extension. The study will help determine the official project proposal, according to project documents.
