In a nutshell
The community is invited to browse and buy during the sale, and there is no admission fee, said Dona Dye, outreach coordinator for Friends of the Bastrop Library.
"Proceeds from this sale go directly to our library efforts, such as the Summer Reading program and our scholarship program," Dye said. "We will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to local seniors this year."
The details
Books will be available both Friday and Saturday; however, the plant sale will only happen on Saturday, Dye said.
Book sale:
- May 2-3, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- May 3, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Dye said the event will offer special flash sales on books.
Plant options will range from Texas-native perennials to bulbs, succulents, roses, vines and vegetables.

Bastrop Public Library offers a variety of programming throughout the year for adults, teens and children, according to the library's website.

Those unable to make it to the annual sales can purchase books from the year-round Book Nook at the library, which also funds its programming.
The Book Nook has more than 1,000 books ranging from bestsellers to literature, children’s books, cookbooks and more, according to the website.
