Environmental Stewardship will host its annual fundraiser to help the organization’s efforts to protect the Lower Colorado River’s water quality and aquatic life.

The details

Bastrop community members can attend the event for free and enjoy river views from Neighbor’s Kitchen & Yard, raffles, live music from Phil Hurley and Ben Zuniga, and a photography contest with the prize of a kayak.

Those interested in participating in the photo contest must post a photo of the Lower Colorado River on X, Facebook, Instagram or Nextdoor and tagging #MyBastropRiver and MyBastropRiver.com by April 16.

A guest judge will select the winning photos, and winners will be announced at the fundraising event.

Steve Box, executive director at Environmental Stewardship, stated in the contest instructions that the campaign will help engage the community and support vital conservation efforts.

“We want to highlight the beauty of our waterways and inspire our community to protect them,” Box said.

Some context

The stewardship provides outreach and education, advocates for ecologically responsible policy, and manages and restores natural resources, as stated on its website.

The organization became a Waterkeeper Alliance affiliate in 2016 and has since worked to preserve and protect the Texas Colorado River, associated aquifers, and the bays and estuaries of the Texas Gulf Coast.
