Funding the project
The fundraising event, called Kritter Karaoke, will feature DJ Elijah Brennan.
Along with singing, officials said attendees can expect trophies, cash prizes and a barkarita drink special.
It kicks off at 7:30 p.m. March 7 inside the Film Alley Comedy Club at 1600 Chestnut St., Bastrop.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online, with all proceeds going to the shelter’s efforts.
The events
The adoption events will happen throughout the cities of Bastrop and Austin, during which people can meet their potential new furry family members.
Upcoming events include:
- March 1: Petco Bastrop, 739 SH 71 A, Bastrop, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
- March 8: Bastrop 1832 Farmers Market, 1302 Chestnut St., Bastrop, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- March 28: PetSmart Brodie, 5207 Brodie Lane, Austin, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Prospective adopters can browse online to see available pets waiting for a loving family.
From there, officials said they can click on the pet's photo and fill out an adoption application, or call 512-549-5160 to arrange a time to meet the pet in person.
Lend a hand
Shelter officials recently posted on social media asking for hot dogs to help give pets their medication.
Other ways to help include providing a direct monetary donation or ordering other much-needed items through the shelter's Amazon Wish List.
