Bastrop Opera House will gain over 5,000 square feet when officials begin the $2.6 million Phase 1 of a two-phase expansion into the historic building adjacent to its current space.
Funded through a campaign by the opera house, as well as support from the city of Bastrop, the first phase is expected to begin by early March and end around six months later, Executive Director Lisa Holcomb said.
Those interested in donating to the project can do so online.

“We want to create a seamless space that serves as the heart of a historic theater district for Bastrop,” Holcomb said. “We want all of downtown to reap the benefits of having a new, exciting space where we can host music and where we can host meetings."
