From a hot rod car show to a steak dinner and more—Bastrop County residents have several options to get out on Oct. 12 while also supporting a local cause.

The car show will raise money for Texas Firewalkers, whose volunteers assist Texans by cooking and serving hot meals on-site after a disaster. Day-of registration begins at 9 a.m., with judging at 11 a.m. and awards at 1:45 p.m. Other activities will include live music, yard games, a Red River Rivalry watch party, barbecue and drinks.

The bi-annual fundraiser supports the lodge’s community initiatives, such as Bastrop ISD reading programs, scholarships for graduating high school seniors, and supporting the Bastrop Emergency Food Pantry. All meals at the fundraiser are carryout, and include catfish, fries, beans, cole slaw and hushpuppies.

Melvin Euers Memorial Chili Cookoff
Local cooks will vie for the first-place chili award, which will land them a spot in the Terlingua International Championship Chili Cookoff in late 2025. Other categories will include beans, meat, dips, margaritas and bloody marys.
The evening will feature a fried chicken supper with all the trimmings. All proceeds will go back to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2527—composed of veterans and military service members.
