Bastrop’s Children’s Advocacy Center received a $65,000 donation to help the nonprofit’s mission to support children who have experienced violent crimes or abuse.

What happened

The money was raised by District 5 Senator Charles Schwertner, who represents Bastrop County, during his Governor for a Day celebration on Sept. 6, according to a news release.

“Their mission is special to me because they not only provide services that transform the lives of children who have experienced neglect and abuse, but they also partner with law enforcement to put abusers behind bars,” Schwertner said of CAC in the news release. “I am proud that the funds raised will help strengthen their operations and help children who have experienced the unimaginable heal.”

The impact

Meagan Webb, executive director of CAC, said her team is deeply honored that Scwertner chose to highlight and raise funds for their cause.

“By bringing our work into focus statewide, Senator Schwertner is empowering fellow Texans with the awareness and tools to actively combat child abuse,” Webb said in the news release. “We are profoundly grateful for his support and care for our organization. Together, we can make a lasting impact and help protect the most vulnerable members of our communities.”
