The Bastrop Live Music Foundation hopes to receive donations to expand its mission to provide individualized mentorship and lessons to local young musicians through the nonprofit's Music Mentors program.

Some context

Created in 2022 by Bastrop actor and musician Robert Kraft, the BLMF works with local venues to bring shows to Bastrop.

“It takes the burden off of the clubs and off of the community, and it brings more well-known musicians to Bastrop,” Kraft told Community Impact in a previous interview. “It [also] allows local musicians to play for a decent wage because we'll pair them up sometimes with other acts.”

The cost

Kraft said the cost for each student in the program is $5,000 annually, and there are currently three students enrolled.

"We are proud to pay our music teachers a living wage and provide music lessons at no cost to students," Kraft said in a news release.

This is the second program launched by the BLMF this year. The first, Gear for Good, provides musical instruments and equipment to local musicians and venues.
