The Bastrop County Realtors Education Foundation received its first donation to provide scholarships for local students. Roscoe Bank pledged $10,000 annually for the next five years.

"We decided to do this because we realize there is great value in education," said Roscoe Business Development Officer Johnny Sanders. "We saw there was an avenue to help facilitate these scholarships and wanted to help."

The details

The foundation was created to provide graduating Bastrop County high school students with $10,000 scholarships toward furthering their education, said Sharon Stanberry Rosshirt, present and CEO of Stanberry Realtors.

Students from the following districts can apply for the scholarships:
  • Bastrop ISD
  • Cedar Creek ISD
  • Smithville ISD
  • McDade ISD
  • Elgin ISD

Scholarship applications will open toward the end of 2024, Stanberry Rosshirt said.

"We also plan to expand to include scholarships for second- and fourth-year college students who have been in the program and want to reapply," Shanberry Rosshirt said.
