1. Bastrop-Cedar Creek home sales increase, prices dip in May
May housing figures for Bastrop-Cedar Creek showed more homes sold year over year while prices dipped, according to Unlock MLS data. During that time, homes remained on the market longer—with the average increasing from 72 days in May 2025 to 85 days in May 2026.
2. Bastrop library offers summer fun, reading challenge for a cause
About one month is left to participate in Bastrop Public Library’s annual summer reading program with themed activities and a chance to support local nonprofits. For every 500 minutes read, participants earn a virtual ticket to support one of three local groups.
3. Bastrop ISD STAAR scores notch another year of gains
Bastrop ISD students posted slight gains on math and reading state assessments in 2026, according to Texas Education Agency data released June 16. The district’s average share of students scoring at Approaches Grade Level or above—considered to be a passing grade—increased 2.1 percentage points overall.
4. Free Alzheimer’s, dementia caregiver support group launches June 25
Bastrop County caregivers supporting someone with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or memory loss are invited to attend a free local support group June 25. Organizers said the group will offer education, encouragement and resources for caregivers.
5. Bastrop eyes $5M grant, $1M incentive 'clawback' for industrial park upgrades
More industries could be headed to Bastrop if officials secure funding for water, wastewater and road improvements aimed at readying land for development at the Bastrop Industrial Park. The proposed plan includes seeking $3 million in federal funding while committing a $2 million local match, and redirecting $1 million in incentives from an agreement with jet engine manufacturer Acutronic.
