Trustees approved the turnaround plan created by administrators for the campus, which serves sixth through eighth grade, in a Nov. 18 board meeting.
A presentation from administration outlined the plan to improve student performance in math and reading, with the goal of reaching a "C" as required by the Texas Education Agency, campus Principal Riza Cooper said, although her personal goal is a "B."

Turnaround plans are a tool school districts can use to help improve campus or district performance before state intervention, according to the TEA. They are mandated for campuses receiving two consecutive "unacceptable" ratings.
Cooper said the campus will take the following steps in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years to improve student performance under the turnaround plan:
- Student assessments in reading and math every six weeks to track progress, to be reviewed within one week
- Saturday school for students who are failing, needing to makeup tests or accumulate minutes for learning acceleration under HB 1416
- Additional instructional coaching for teachers throughout the year
- Seeking more ways to support instructors
Administrators will continue to implement the plan as approved, Cooper said.
