This year's theme is “roots of change.”
The details
The annual event at 1408 Chestnut St., Bastrop, geared toward children aged 14-18 and students in grades 9-12, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“This is a day dedicated to age-appropriate mental health chats, art, civic engagement and more,” Krystal Grimes, founder of the Heal Alliance, said in a news release. “Youth will also enjoy great food, music and connection time to understand how to advocate for themselves and others.”
There will be representatives from four local school districts:
- Bastrop ISD
- Elgin ISD
- McDade ISD
- Smithville ISD
The Bastrop County Youth Summit was launched in 2022, and Grimes previously told Community Impact how the offering was designed to create positive change toward a safer and more sustainable society.
“After years of community-centered collaboration focused on the health and well-being of Bastrop County, we were aware of the need to intentionally incorporate more youth voices into our work,” she said in 2023.
Also of note
Parents and guardians can register their child online.
“With the input and innovation of our youth, Bastrop County will be a more resilient community for all,” Bastrop County Youth Summit organizers said in a statement posted to their website.
