A new family-owned child care facility operated by first responders has opened in Bastrop.

The licensed child care facility, Heroic Hearts Academy, provides services for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. It is owned and operated by six family members who are emergency medical technicians, paramedics and law enforcement throughout the county.

The details

The facility provides infant care for ages 6 weeks-12 months, a toddler program for ages 12 months-36 months, a preschool curriculum for ages 3-5 years, and an after-school program for children up to 12 years old.

Currently, Heroic Arts Academy provides after-school care for Colony Oaks Elementary in Bastrop ISD, but the facility is looking to expand to other campuses soon, said Brittany Harkins, director and co-owner of Heroic Hearts.

The business celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce on March 4.
