Big changes are coming to three Smithville eateries starting in December.

In a nutshell

Smithville Farmers Market fan-favorite Bubby's BBQ will open its first brick-and-mortar following the restructuring of Your Mom's, which will also expand into Hope Floats Ice Cream and Bakery.

What's happening

In a social media post, Your Mom's owners Ryan and Gina Blackmore said they plan to turn the comfort food restaurant into a manufacturing location for their popular Mojo Glaze and other sauces.

"It has always been our intention to bottle this product and others that have been popular in the restaurant," the Blackmores said, explaining that Bubby's BBQ will take over half of the former restaurant. "We will be converting the other half of the restaurant space that we divided off into manufacturing space. We are super excited to be able to start manufacturing our products."

Zooming in

Bubby's BBQ owner Jay Johnson said he and his wife Kailee are "beyond excited" to be able to serve hungry diners on a regular basis.

“Along this journey, we were lucky enough to meet the Blackmore family and they quickly became family to us,” Johnson said. “They've believed in us from the beginning and are entrusting us with a space that's already full of love. We are honored and can't wait to make them proud.”

On more thing

The Blackmores, who also own neighboring Hope Floats, said they will continue serving food to Bastrop County with the expansion of their menu at the ice cream shop.

New options will include items such as pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads and more.
