One more thing

Cedars closed the day Younes passed away. Soon after, his widow Tracey Younes started a GoFundMe account to raise money toward purchasing and inscribing a memorial bench to place underneath the large tree behind the restaurant.

"I know so many Bastropians were friends with [Khalil Younes] for many, many years, and his fun personality and wonderful food dishes are missed by all of us," Tracey Younes posted on the account. "I hope you can join us in bringing this project to life as a way to honor him. We appreciate each and every one of you in this fine community of Bastrop and thank God every day for showing us the way here."

Younes said she would like the bench to read, "In memory of Khalil Younes, Cedar’s Mediterranean Grill from 2002 to 2024."

So far, the fundraising account has yielded about 35% of the $3,000 goal. Those who wish to contribute can do so online.
