Following a public hearing on the rezoning of a 6-acre section of the Valverde development along FM 969 near Hwy. 71 called Valverde North, Bastrop City Council approved a more urban zoning for the area.

The section of development will see 41 duplex lots for a total of 82 single-family units.

The details

Officials with the The Valverde development requested a change from a residential to a more urban zoning. This new zoning allows for more dense development that can also accommodate retail and apartment building. However, the development plans include 62% impervious coverage, which is under the agreed limit of 70%.

The background


An 87-acre development off FM 969, Valverde includes a plan for 352 residential lots as part of a residential neighborhood. The development is one of six major housing developments in Bastrop city limits.
