In a world of dog-dominated groomers, one Cedar Creek business is putting cats first—with calming techniques and a whole lot of patience.

Madame Moxie and Bryan Steele, a local couple, established Luxury Austin Pawz in Cedar Creek after relocating from Los Angeles, and now offer a variety of packages and add-on services, including:

“By dedicating time in training and knowledge on cat safety, we have high standards in grooming excellence, and can provide guidance in the selection of appropriate grooming choices for each cat,” Moxie and Steele said in a statement posted to their website. “When you see the results of an L.A. Pawz groomed cat, you’ll never settle for anything less.”

Although the business—which touts its accreditation as a Certified Feline Master Groomer from the National Cat Grooming Institute—first launched as a mobile service, L.A. Pawz will begin operating out of a Cedar Creek home salon in late July.

Across the three-acre property, there are several amenities for owners to utilize while their cat is in a session, including:

  • Hammocks

“It’s been over a week now and my cat still looks and smells amazing,” Cecilia Dumas, who took her Balinese cat to L.A. Pawz, said in an online review. “It was his first grooming appointment and I can already see a huge difference in his shedding. Moxie was also so patient and went slow with Marshmello, because that’s what he needed.”

Jeannine McElroy shared that sentiment and highlighted Moxie’s care with her cat, Bella.


“Bella is a senior kitty and needed some tender loving care with her coat, as she’s a long-haired kitty and has problems grooming herself,” she said in an online review. “With Moxie’s love and care, her fur is soft, the matted patches are gone.”

That impact, Moxie emphasized, is the most rewarding part of her job.

"Some of these cats are getting a new lease on life,” she said. “We don’t have to wait six months for a sales report to know how we did. We instantly know how we did when we see a cat looking visibly better and loving that their skin can breathe again.”
