Owner Jules Winson said she brought her create-your-own art studio to Bastrop to coincide with the area’s growing arts scene. Café Monet provides a family-friendly environment for artists of all ages and skill levels. Reservations can be booked online; however, walk-ins are accepted. Parties can also be booked for adults, children and scouts.

    Bastrop local Mikayla Cannaday opened her first spa in Bastrop inside The BelkBeauty Bar to share her skills with her hometown. Skin Rite Spa provides a range of services including facials, tinting, waxing, massages and more.

    The owners of Anita’s Mexican Restaurant in Bastrop opened a new Tex-Mex eatery inside the historic Vasek Garage in Smithville. Quinto Patio uses freshly made tortillas to accent its all-day breakfast options, tacos, enchiladas and plates. The restaurant also has a full bar, indoor/outdoor seating, and live music.

    Bastrop Market President Dennis Zulkowski said the office operates primarily as a loan production office, and serves the community for any commercial, business, or home lending needs. The business offers services with home loans and business loans including home equity loans, lot loans and commercial real estate loans.

    Found Fine Art

    Found Fine Art celebrated its first business anniversary Nov. 10 in Bastrop. The gallery is home to a wide variety of paintings, jewelry and sculpted works and hosts community events. Through their artist network, Found Fine Art also facilitates requests for commissioned work.


    The Dentists

    The Bastrop dental clinic celebrated 50 years of treatment in November. Led by Dr. Jaclyn N. Smith, The Dentists offers a range of dental treatments including but not limited to emergencies, pediatrics, oral DNA testing, cosmetics and general dentistry. The practice accepts most major insurance plans and offers payment options such as Care Credit.

    The practice celebrated 40 years in November, and is led by Dr. Ed Travis who is certified as a chiropractic sports physician, veterinary chiropractor and applied clinical nutritionist. The office offers chiropractic adjustments, nutritional services, physical therapy, diagnostic services, auto accidents, sports injury and performance and weight loss programs.


    St. David’s Emergency Center-Bastrop

    The emergency room recently underwent renovations with no interruptions to facility operations.

    Renovations began in August and ended in mid-November. They included interior and exterior cosmetic upgrades, such as work on the building's brickwork and cabinets inside the emergency center.

    Colorado River Collegiate Academy


    The early college high school celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Jan. 17. The school is a partnership between Bastrop Independent High School and Austin Community College, as stated on its website.

    Neon Bean

    U.S. Army Veteran Sydni Smith opened Neon Bean in 2023 and closed this fall. The team offered a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies and snacks. Smith said serious buyers can message her on the company's Instagram or call her at 210-517-9901.

    Smithville Farmers Market fan-favorite Bubby's BBQ opened its first brick-and-mortar following the restructuring of Your Mom's. Your Mom’s owners Ryan and Gina Blackmore closed their comfort food cafe and began manufacturing their popular glazes and sauces, while also incorporating a new food menu into Hope Floats Ice Cream and Bakery. Bubby's BBQ owner Jay Johnson said he and his wife Kailee are "beyond excited" to regularly serve barbecue classics to hungry diners.
