What started as a six-dinosaur museum has evolved into an educational attraction with over 30 dinosaur exhibits in Cedar Creek. Dinosaur Park first opened its doors in 2005.

Austin Nuñez, public relations and marketing director, said his parents, Linda and Daniel Nuñez, were inspired to create a space similar to the dinosaur park they visited in Utah a few years prior.

The details

The park features dinosaurs of all sizes. Nuñez said their smallest sculpture is the size of a chicken at 1 foot tall and 2 feet long while their largest dinosaur—the long-neck sauropods—sits at 50 feet tall and 100 feet long.

Nuñez said the dinosaurs in the park have their own origin stories; some were handcrafted by workers at Dinosaur Park while others were purchased internationally.

“It's sometimes difficult to find artists that work with materials that big, or that work with some of those giant, 100 foot long, longer dinosaurs,” said Nuñez. “So we often have to do a bit of searching and a bit of digging to find the people that do work like that.”

What’s special about it

Attendees can read informational signs on the different dinosaurs on their self-guided tour. Information includes name pronunciation, time period the dinosaur existed in and some facts about the dinosaur discovered through their fossils. Some signs are marked with a Texas symbol, highlighting the dinosaurs whose fossils were found in the state.

“We've got a lot of Texas pride here in our state so people love to see which dinosaurs came from the home state,” said Nuñez. “One of the big ones that people love learning a lot is that they've found Tyrannosaurus rex fossils here. So the T. rex is one of the Texas dinosaurs that was out and about.”

What they offer

In addition to their life-size dinosaur replicas, Dinosaur Park hosts events like birthday parties and field trips and has picnic tables for any visitors who would like to pack their own snacks for the adventure. The park also features a fossil dig, a playground and a Dinosaur Store filled with a variety of dinosaur-themed gifts.

Ages two through 12 tickets are $10 and ages 13 and up are $11. Children 23 months and under are free. Membership passes for the year are available for $30. Pets under 30 pounds are allowed in the park but must be leashed at all times.
