Interested in roadwork and sidewalk updates in the Allen area? Here are updates on several construction projects in the city of Allen. This list is not comprehensive.
Ongoing projects
1. Highway Safety Improvement Program updates
Project: Updates include modernized traffic signals, upgraded equipment, increased capacity and enhanced pedestrian features.
Update: The fire hydrant at Bethany Drive and Century Parkway has been successfully relocated and the new left turn lane is being constructed, Communication Manager Kristi Soto said. The contractor is preparing to extend the Eastbound Main Street left turn lane at the intersection of Main Street and Greenville Avenue.
2. Greengate neighborhood sidewalk repairs
Project: The Greengate neighborhood area and adjacent roadways, including parts of Allen Heights Drive, will see upgrades to pedestrian facilities. Repairs include addressing broken sidewalk ramps, alley approaches and sidewalk panels.
Update: New sidewalks have been installed along Marigold Drive as well as some areas by Edelweiss and Azalea Drive, Soto said. Contractors are still working on the remaining areas of Azalea Drive and ramps along Edelweiss Drive. Work on Malone Road will begin soon.
Completed projects
3. Hillside Village neighborhood road resurfacing
Project: About 20,500 square yards of the neighborhood’s streets will see asphalt slurry seal applied, which is a surface treatment that will cover minor defects and improve the riding surface. The treatment is expected to extend the road’s lifespan, per city documents.
Update: The project was completed June 15, Soto said.
