Allen residents will have an opportunity to share their feedback on the city’s proposed budget and tax rate at an upcoming meeting.
Allen City Council will meet at 6 p.m., Sept. 8 for a work session, and a regular meeting, including a public hearing on the city’s proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget and tax rate, will follow at 7 p.m.

Council members unanimously approved setting Sept. 8 as the date for the public hearing for the city’s proposed FY 2026-27 budget and tax rate at an Aug. 11 meeting.
The proposed property tax rate is $0.4147 per $100 of assessed valuation, which is a $0.0007 decrease from FY 2025-26, per city documents. The city of Allen’s tax rate has been decreasing each year since FY 2017-18, city documents state.
In Allen, the median-valued single-family home is valued at $554,790 in 2026, which is a $10,154 increase from the previous year, according to city documents. If the proposed tax rate is approved, the annual property tax bill for the median-valued home would be $2,042, or approximately $170 per month, city documents state.

Allen officials are predicting $157.3 million in general fund revenue and expecting the same amount in expenses, resulting in a balanced general fund budget, per city documents.
City officials are predicting the city will end FY 2025-26 with a balance of $43.6 million in its general fund, according to city documents. With the proposed balanced budget, the city would end FY 2026-27 with the same $43.6 million fund balance.
Council members are expected to vote on the proposed budget and tax rate following the public hearing at the Sept. 8 meeting, per city documents.
