School district officials are expected to name an interim superintendent for Allen ISD at a special-called meeting later this month.
What happened?
Allen ISD’s board of trustees was expected to name a lone finalist for superintendent at a special-called meeting held May 7. During the final vetting process, board members decided the remaining candidates “would not be the right fit for Allen ISD” at this time, board President Polly Montgomery said.
As a result, the remaining candidates have been removed from consideration, she said.
“Selecting the next superintendent is one of the board’s most important responsibilities,” Montgomery said. “The board is committed to taking the time needed to identify a leader who reflects the high expectations of the Allen ISD community and is prepared to support student success, future-ready learning and continued growth across the district.”
The board is expected to name an interim superintendent at a special-called meeting held at 5 p.m. May 14.
The background
District officials started a search process for Allen ISD’s next superintendent after current Superintendent Robin Bullock announced her retirement at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
Board members selected Texas-based law firm Thompson and Horton in February to lead the search for Allen ISD’s next superintendent. Since then, the law firm has worked with the district in finding candidates and conducting interviews, according to Allen ISD’s website.
“This search process has been thorough and the Board remains focused on selecting a long-term leader who is prepared to serve students, staff, and families of Allen ISD,” Montgomery said.
