Allen ISD’s Green Elementary School is set to undergo a renovation project that will update electrical systems, plumbing systems and building finishes.
The full story
The Allen ISD board of trustees approved a total cost of $28.6 million to renovate the school during an Oct. 26 meeting. The project is expected to begin upon board approval and is anticipated to finish by the start of the 2027-28 school year, said Brian Neely, executive director of operations.
“My team is very excited this evening to bring forward a [guaranteed maximum price] for the start of our summer of 2027 projects,” Neely said.
Green Elementary School and Ford Middle School were highlighted as the district’s next renovation projects during a recent construction update. Ford Middle School renovations are also expected to start in 2027.
A closer look
Green Elementary was built in 1995 and last renovated in 2010, according to a staff presentation. The project, which will be managed by Balfour Beatty Construction and Corgan Architects, will renovate about 82,447 square feet of space. The scope of work includes:
Replacement of electrical and plumbing systems
HVAC conversion to a geothermal heating and cooling system
Replacement of finishes throughout the school including flooring, fixtures, wall coverings and paint
Redesign of lobby and reception area
Upgrades to access control, security cameras and door hardware
The cost
Board members approved a total construction cost of $28,632,460. That total includes a guaranteed maximum price for construction management services, architectural fees, soft costs and more.
The project will be financed by a voter-approved bond measure passed in 2024. Several other renovation projects have been completed or are underway.
