Members of the public are invited to join the Cedar Park Public Library in celebrating National Library Week April 9-15.

This year’s theme is “Libraries Transform,” and Library Director Julia Mitschke said the focus is a “celebration of libraries transforming lives through free access to technology, resources for lifelong learning and opportunities for community engagement.”

From April 11-13, staff members will host a toddler puppet show at 10:30 a.m. and a preschool puppet show at 11:15 a.m. each day.

Throughout the week, a BookFace selfie station will be set up in the library, 550 Discovery Blvd., where people of all ages can take a photo with their favorite book and share it on social media with the tags #BookFace and #cedarparkshelfie. Visitors to the library can also write down their favorite book for a window display.

The library will celebrate the finale of the week with its third annual Edible Books contest on April 15 with homemade creations. The contest starts at 2 p.m.

“Enjoy sweet treats while checking out this display of the community’s culinary creativity,” Mitschke said. “Or join in the fun and bring your own entry of literary inspired food art.”

Participants in the contest must arrive at the library between 1:15-1:45 p.m. The library’s website, www.cedarparktexas.gov/library, includes photos of sample edible books. The event is open to all ages, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the contest.
