The Bee Cave City Council approved the selection of the Revival store site, located at 13308 Hwy. 71, Bee Cave, for its new library June 27. The former furniture store closed up shop in late 2017. The land is mostly undeveloped and reaches parts of Central Park.

The Bee Cave Public Library is around 4,000 square feet and is located within City Hall at the Hill Country Galleria, which it outgrew very quickly, Public Services Manager Gretchen Hardin said.

There's been talk of a new library for nearly a decade, Hardin said, that began with a study that determined the library needed more space for its collection, additional programs and other amenities.

Last fall, the council selected the architecture and construction firms for the projects-Lake Flato Architects and Hoar Construction, as previously reported by Community Impact. The project is now in the design phase to determine what needs must be met and how the library can grow into the space. Additionally, Hardin said that the city sought out community input to find out what was desired out of the new library.

Study rooms, a play area for children and a video recording studio are all aspects in contention for the new facility which is slated to be 24,000 square feet upon completion.

While there is no set date for when construction will begin, the new library is expected to open late 2025 or early 2026.
