The Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel and Conference Center in The Summit at Rivery Park is expected to open in July, and developer Jeff Novak expects the center to be beneficial to Georgetown tourism.

The 225-room four-star hotel and 30,000 square foot conference center is part of the business-entertainment center under development on the 32-acre site between Williams Drive and Rivery Boulevard. The hotel will have a restaurant on site, and the conference center will provide room for weddings and meeting space, Novak said.

In 2015 the city also hired Marie Woodard to serve as group sales and servicing coordinator for the Georgetown Convention and Visitors Bureau. Woodard will work with hotel and conference center staff to coordinate large events and attract various group events to the center.

Along with the hotel, The Summit will include mixed-use development such as retail and restaurant space as well as the Rivery Park Apartment Homes and The Brownstones at The Summit single-family townhomes. The development will also have outdoor areas such as a hillside amphitheater and a splash pad and playground.

Novak and his brother, Jack, run the development. Jeff Novak, who has been in Georgetown for nearly 25 years, said local residents have had to leave the city for services such as shopping or finding restaurants. He said the shops at The Summit will meet a growing demand for more local services.

“I felt like Georgetown was ready for [The Summit],” Novak said. “I felt like people want to be here.”

In 2012, Novak Brothers broke ground on the townhome development, which will add 114 single-family townhomes once fully built out and in 2015 more than 220 multifamily units opened in the development.

The Summit is open for more investors, development partners and future businesses to move into the center, Novak said.

Also included in the development is a multi-story parking garage that will be owned by the city of Georgetown.
