Second public meeting on FM 2920 reconstruction project set for Dec. 6

Tomball city officials will be holding a second public meeting from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Lone Star College-Tomball Beckendorf Conference Center for the Texas Department of Transportation’s FM 2920 reconstruction project, Assistant City Manager Jessica Rogers said during a presentation to City Council during its Nov. 1 special meeting.

“With that community meeting, our goal would be to have feedback solicited on the design alternatives through in-person attendees as well as providing online options for those who can’t attend,” Rogers said in her presentation.

This second meeting will follow a public meeting on March 31 of this year, at which public comments were overwhelmingly opposed to the project, Community Impact previously reported.

After the Dec. 6 public meeting, a full report of the feedback gathered will be submitted to City Council, which will then decide how to move forward, Rogers said.

The proposed project presented in the spring, which spans from Willow Street and Business 249, would close the right turn lane; replace sidewalks and utilities; add raised medians and improve drainage in downtown Tomball and near FM 2920 and Business 249; and close the right-turn lane at Business 249, according to previous Community Impact reporting. It would cost $28.61 million, using both federal and state funds.
