Check out some of the most recent updates on projects underway in the Tomball-Magnolia area as well as Harris County.
A few of these updates come courtesy of an August report from the Texas Department of Transportation, while the other comes from Community Impact's previous Harris County reporting.
This is not a comprehensive list and details about each project, including any statuses, are subject to change.
FM 1488 widening
Project: This change consists of two separate projects that each feature part of the road being upgraded from two lanes to four, according to TxDOT. The first project runs from the Waller County line to FM 1774, while the second portion runs from FM 1774 to west of FM 149.
Update: The first portion is now 95% complete while the second portion is 70% complete, according to TxDOT.
- Timeline: first section to be done in the third quarter of 2026, while the second section will be done in the fourth quarter of 2027
- Cost: $35.35 million for the first section, $48.3 million for the second section
- Funding source: state funds
Hwy. 242 widening
Project: This project is being widened as a divided highway between I-45 and FM 1488.
Update: This project is 95% complete, documents show.
- Timeline: expected to finish in third quarter of 2026
- Cost: $12.4 million
- Funding source: state funds
Hufsmith-Kohrville Road segment 3A Widening
Project: This project will see this two-lane road widened to four lanes from north of Ezekiel Road to north of Boudreaux Road.
Update: Harris County Precinct 3 officials said the project is ahead of schedule and could finish ahead of 2028.
