At the Sept. 15 regular board meeting, the Magnolia ISD board reviewed the bond update and approved contracts to begin construction for multiple 2026 bond projects.
District growth
As previously reported, MISD passed a $465 million bond in May to fund the construction of multiple new schools to address student overpopulation. The board received updates on Elementary Schools #10 and #11 and High School #3 from MISD Assistant Superintendent Erich Morris.
Morris said that Elementary School #10 is currently in its early design phases; 50% of the construction documents have been completed and 100% are required by December. On Feb. 8, 2027, the board will approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the project and construction will begin in March 2027.
The district is conducting topographic surveys and geotechnical exploration for Elementary School #11. Exterior design is expected to start in early 2027, and bidding for the construction should begin in late fall 2027.
District officials are planning a design development presentation for the MISD board this December, Morris said. Fifty percent of the construction documents are expected to be completed by January 2027. Bidding for construction contracts will begin in April or May 2027, and the GMP will be presented at the June or July 2027 board meeting.

Magnolia ISD Executive Director of Facilities Tim Bruner also reviewed two presentations concerning construction contract approval. The board voted to approve contracts with B&C Constructors, Inc. for the construction of Elementary Schools #10 and #11. The board also approved a contract with Stewart Builders, Inc. to construct High School #3 and additions to Magnolia High School and Magnolia West High School as part of the 2026 bond.
