Rancho Grande in Tomball was opened in 1991 by Robert, Oscar, Jeovani and Mike Carrillo, who are brothers.
Originally from Guadalajara, the brothers opened Rancho Grande to pursue their dream of owning a restaurant. Over 40 years later, multiple locations have opened across the Greater Houston area, including in The Woodlands, Port Arthur, Magnolia and Tomball.
Javier Hernandez is the district manager of the numerous Carrillo brothers' restaurant locations and said he has worked with the brothers since they began in 1991.
Hernandez said that back in the 90s, Rancho Grande was one of the only 3 or 4 restaurants open in the area. The brothers created the menu after working and learning at restaurants in the area and building their skills in the kitchen.
What's on the menu
Hernandez has said they have slightly updated their menu since their opening in 1991, but remain true to their culinary roots. Some of the most popular items on the menu include:
Tex-Mex Combo: Chicken and beef fajita steak, served with one cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and tortillas.

Birria Tacos: Three tacos, filled with grilled beef, cheese, onions and cilantro.
Rancho Grande Tomball also features a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and happy hour specials available for customers.
One more thing
In addition to the various restaurant locations, Rancho Grande also offers catering services to any customer hosting events. Hernandez said that any customer who is interested in trying out Rancho Grande for the first time will not be disappointed.
“I want them to come here because we treat you like family,” Hernandez said. “We always want to make sure everything comes out good, and that you have a good time. That's all I would say to them, that they're not gonna be disappointed coming out here with us.”
