The Woodlands Arts Council, an arts and culture nonprofit organization, unveiled a new mural for permanent display at the Kevin Brady Community Center outside the Cathy Brady Ballroom on Aug. 19.
“The Art of Gratitude” is a mural by local artist Marlo Saucedo composed of two panels making up a 6-by-6 foot piece using her signature word-based painting style. It features messages from community members, according to a news release from The Woodlands Arts Council.

The mural was funded in part by a $1,776 grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts in honor of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The remaining funds were raised through The Woodlands Arts Council’s Giving Tuesday campaign, which reached its goal of raising $6,000, according to information from the council.
