Montgomery County Food Bank selected for nonprofit AI fellowship, slated to participate as host organization
According to a June 11 news release, the Montgomery County Food Bank has been selected to be one of the first host organizations for Claude Corps, a new national fellowship program launched by Anthropic.
Led by the artificial intelligence company that created Claude, the program seeks to train over 1,000 AI fellows and embed them full-time at national nonprofit groups for one year in an effort to accelerate work already underway.
In the case of the Montgomery County Food Bank, the AI fellow is scheduled to join its team in the fall, where it will begin building tools to help forecast food distributions and quantify significant data, officials said.
Outrun Hunger raises record-breaking funds in Conroe
On June 13, the Montgomery County Food Bank hosted its fifth annual Outrun Hunger event, which drew in more than 600 participants to its 5K and 8K trail run, as well as its 1K color dash, according to a June 18 news release.
Montgomery County Food Bank officials said that this year’s athletic event was the most successful run to date with the number of runners that participated and the funds that were raised, which broke the previously standing record.
All funds collected from Outrun Hunger go toward providing hundreds of meals to individuals in need throughout the summer.
Habitat for Humanity seeks homeowners for new Magnolia neighborhood
On June 5, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County announced that it is officially accepting applications for its homeownership program, which offers eligible families the opportunity to purchase affordable homes in one of Magnolia’s newest neighborhoods, according to a news release.
The community, named Marble Creek, is expected to be the nonprofit’s largest neighborhood development to date in Montgomery County. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer with the first four homes being built through Habitat’s “Blitz Build Initiative,” officials said via the announcement.
Once completed, Marble Creek will house more than 200 mixed-income families.
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church donates over $100K to Habitat for Humanity, mobilizes volunteers for soon-to-be-built community
According to a June 17 news release, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church presented a $105,000 check to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County on June 13, marking continued progress toward the church’s overall fundraising goal of $125,000.
The money collected from the fundraiser is slated to back Habitat’s construction of the future Marble Creek community in Magnolia.
In addition to this development, the church also gathered volunteers to aid in constructing storage sheds that will eventually be placed in the back yards of Marble Creek’s homes, officials said.
Child Advocates of Montgomery County to host support luncheon for children in crisis this August
In a June 15 news release, Child Advocates of Montgomery County announced its plans to host its inaugural community luncheon this August, dedicated to uplifting children in crisis and recognizing individuals who have overcome challenges to create lasting impact in their work.
The “Prevailing HOPE: A Gathering for Good” event will be Aug. 26 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at The Peach Orchard at 1737 Sawdust Road, The Woodlands.
Amelia Rose Earhart—founder of the Fly with Amelia Foundation and acclaimed aviator—will present attendees with opening remarks as the keynote speaker, before concluding with the announcement of the inaugural Women Who Prevail Award.
Woodforest Charitable Foundation awarded over $6 million to 232 nonprofits in 2026
On May 6, the Woodforest Charitable Foundation welcomed 140 guests to its annual charity partner distributions luncheon at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, where the organization awarded $6.7 million to 232 nonprofit organizations, according to a June 19 news release. This included $3.3 million granted to 55 local and regional charities serving Montgomery and Harris counties.
The foundation, which was established over two decades ago, is rooted in offering financial support to nonprofit groups working in crisis intervention; hunger relief; housing; healthcare; child advocacy; family, senior and veterans services; and other community needs.
