Commuters might encounter frightening traffic this Halloween weekend, as heavy traffic is expected to continue this weekend on I-45 in The Woodlands when Hwy. 242 construction crews close down some northbound lanes and all frontage road lanes.
The two outside I-45 northbound main lanes from Shenandoah Park Drive to Harpers Landing will be closed from Friday at 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday for construction work to be done on the Hwy. 242 flyover, said Jenny Taraborelli, PTP Transportation Montgomery County program manager.
The northbound frontage road will be closed from Shenandoah Park Drive to FM 1488, with frontage road traffic being diverted into the two open I-45 lanes, according to PTP transportation. Northbound traffic seeking to access Hwy. 242 will need to make a U-turn at FM 1488.
"If people are trying to access a critical facility like St. Luke's, they are probably better off staying out of the detour zone and access those from other alternative routes, Taraborelli said. "There are businesses that are north of Shenandoah Park. We are going to allow limited access along the frontage road in that section to service those businesses."
