A new pollinator garden has been created at Wendtwoods Park in The Woodlands through a $8,000 grant received by the township's Environmental Services department in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful and Critter Control, according to a July 8 news release from the township.
What happened
Volunteers from Critter Control visited Wendtwoods Park for a morning dedicated to litter cleanup and the creation of the new garden May 14. Volunteers collected 6 pounds of litter and 30 gallons of debris as part of the cleanup.
Volunteers worked with township Environmental Services staff to transform the park with the creation of a native pollinator garden, according to a news release. A total of 103 native plants were added to help create a habitat for butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and other wildlife that help to pollinate plants. Volunteers also spread fresh mulch and plant identification markers. The garden also has gravel pathways and strategically placed decorative rocks around the boundaries.
