MilkShake Factory, a milkshake and chocolate shop owned and operated by husband and wife Paul and Lisa Winslow, opened in May. The shop offers a wide array of sweet treats, including non-dairy and allergy-friendly options, in addition to in-house tempered milk chocolate and fruit cups.
A family affair
Paul and Lisa Winslow have been married for 25 years and have two children. During the business' first summer, there were days when the whole Winslow family worked at the shop, Paul Winslow said.
Since opening in May, the Winslows have spent their first few months establishing the shop in the Cochran’s Crossing community. Paul’s background in merchandise management has helped him oversee the store, while Lisa supports its daily operations.
What they offer
MilkShake Factory’s menu centers on handcrafted milkshakes, with options divided into signature, gourmet, classic and non-dairy categories. Signature shakes include the Chocolate Cake Shake, Campfire S’mores, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry and Cookie Jar, while gourmet options include Bananas Foster, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, Chocolatier, Cookie Brownie Fudge and Salted Caramel Pretzel. A pumpkin pie milkshake is also available as a limited-time fall offering.
The shop also offers a selection of housemade chocolates, including chocolate cake pops, chocolate bark, chocolate-dipped strawberries, S’mores bark, cookie bark, chocolate-dipped stroopwafels and roasted almond bark. Customers can also purchase a chocolate bark gift box or a sharable snacking trio featuring housemade bark flavors.
Other dessert options include molten cups, sundaes and a root beer float. Non-dairy shakes are available in chocolate, cookies and cream, peanut butter and strawberry flavors.
Staying local
The Winslows, who have lived in The Woodlands area since 2017, chose Cochran's Crossing for their franchise because the location is well integrated into the community.
Milkshake Factory has participated in numerous community events and fundraisers since its opening earlier this year, including Shakes with the Sheriff, spirit night fundraisers for local schools, special events with senior living centers and a Hope's Path fundraiser. Hope's Path is a charity that helps young men who have aged out of the foster care system achieve independence. Milkshake Factory also planned to stay involved in the community by participating in The Woodlands National Night Out in October.
Quote of note
"It's really about people coming in here to celebrate, add a moment of joy or a pick-me-up to their day," Paul Winslow said. "That's really what the environment is all about, just real, friendly service."
