Woodforest National Bank announced the appointment of Julie V. Mayrant as president and CEO as of July 15, via a news release.
Headquartered in The Woodlands, Woodforest has locations throughout the Greater Houston area and in the eastern and southern United States as well as several areas in the Midwest.
The backstory
Mayrant succeeds Robert Marling in the role of CEO. She previously served as president and chief community banking officer, a role that oversees the bank's retail division. According to the news release, she has strengthened the bank's relationship-based approach to banking as well as worked to expand access to financial services.
Her start with the bank began with its first in-store branch in Conroe, according to the release. She also helped expand the bank’s wealth management and commercial banking capabilities and helped to introduce its one-stop-shop service model, according to the release.
As president and CEO, Mayrant's focus will include building on the bank’s employee-owned foundation, deepening customer relationships, strengthening community engagement and driving long-term growth, according to information from Woodforest.
Woodforest now has more than 740 branches in 17 states.

Mayrant graduated from Sam Houston State University and earned an executive Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. She has served for eight years on the board of directors of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, and she currently serves on its Services Board. She has also served on the board of directors for The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and currently serves as chairman of the board for Interfaith of The Woodlands.
