Transportation updates

1. Williams Trace reconstruction Phase 1

The southbound lanes of Williams Trace Boulevard in Sugar Land are closed for rebuilding. The project calls for an additional storm sewer to be built to improve drainage in the area. In addition, a sidewalk will be added and the traffic signals at Austin Parkway will be upgraded. Cost: $5.9 million Timeline: January 2017-March 2018

2. University Boulevard North extension (Phase 2)

The second phase of the University Boulevard North extension project in Sugar Land involves building a bridge over Oyster Creek, tying the boulevard into the existing Stadium Drive behind Constellation Field. Cost: $12 million Timeline: February-winter 2018

3. Hwy. 6 and Crown Garden Trail intersection

Work crews are adding a right-turn lane at the intersection of Hwy. 6 and Crown Garden Trail in Sugar Land so northbound traffic can turn right onto Crown Garden. The project is being managed by Imperial Redevelopment District.

4. Gregory Boulevard improvements

Gregory Boulevard is being repaved from Fondren Road to McLain Boulevard. The eastbound lanes have been completed and work crews are repaving the westbound lanes. Cost: $3.3 million Timeline: March 2016-summer 2017

5. Covington Woods drainage improvement project

Construction crews are installing new drainage pipelines and new water lines. Work is being done on Baytree and Ivymount drives between Maygrove and Hitherfield drives. Cost: $923,598.44 Timeline: February-September 2017
