Sugar Land officials are focusing on sidewalk repairs as the backlog of maintenance requests grows.
The big picture
At an April 15 meeting, Sugar Land City Council approved a $1.4 million contract with Cedros Paving Services LLC for a citywide sidewalk rehabilitation and replacement project.
The contract comes as the city begins its new sidewalk management program, which aims to help staff identify and prioritize sidewalk maintenance and repairs, said Keisha Seals, assistant director of public works for Sugar Land. The program is guided by sidewalk assessments, arborist input and resident service requests.
