By the numbers

Between 2021-24, the city’s sidewalk maintenance backlog has grown over 69% percent, Seals said. The city currently has over 1,700 requests, with plans to address 900 in 2025.

Additionally, maintenance request wait times have increased to 18-24 months to complete, she said.

What else?

The city is also looking to partner with arborists as 74% sidewalk panels are affected by trees, Seals said. The arborists can help determine if sidewalk panels could be repaired by grinding tree stumps rather than removing them.

Looking ahead

The project will begin in May, with completion expected in January, Seals said.

The contract can be renewed for an additional three years based on budget availability, she said.
