Road and sidewalk construction on the project to expand Hwy. 6 from six to eight lanes between Lexington Boulevard and Brooks Street in Sugar Land is 45% complete, according to Deidrea George, a Texas Department of Transportation public information officer.
Additionally, 85% of utility relocation work and 85% of traffic signal work on the project are complete.
Recently, TxDOT opened a new lane of traffic between Lexington and Hwy. 59. Crews also completed construction on a northbound Hwy. 6 lane between Fluor Daniel Drive and Brooks Street and are working to open that lane by Christmas, George said.
Sidewalks at the Lexington Boulevard, City Walk and Town Center Drive intersections have been completed and opened as well.
