MIssouri City's newest City Manager outlines goals for new year

While Jones refrained from committing to specific programs, she did say that employee compensation and retention rates were at the top of her list.

“Compensation is one of those things that is really hard to get right,” Jones said. “But we want our employees to feel as though they’re being paid what they’re worth.”

One of the most important aspects of her leadership style, Jones said, is to ensure that employees feel like they belong, like a large family.

"My goal is to ensure that Missouri City is the most efficient and effective city that it can be," she said.

Before moving to Houston where she filled in for former city manager Charles Jackson, Jones was the city manager of Portsmouth, Virginia.
