SIX13, a new Lagree studio, has opened its doors in Sugar Land focusing on fun drinks, good music and community, owner Ko-Nisha Anderson said.
What they offer
The studio offers 50-minute Lagree classes available as individual sessions, packages or memberships. One drop-in class is $35, and the unlimited monthly membership costs $259, per the SIX13 website.
Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact strength method designed to transform the way the body moves, feels and performs, per its website. The fitness style—which was founded in the late 1990s and early 2000s—uses a Megaformer machine for the workout and is similar to Pilates, but Lagree is more focused on intensity and effective movements.
SIX13 will also open a cafe inside the studio by the end of the year, which will offer flavored lattes, coffee and matcha, Anderson said.
What’s in a name?
The name SIX13 alludes to June 13, which is Anderson’s birthday and the studio’s opening date.
Anderson got into Lagree after she had her second child and was looking for group classes for direction and community. She said she felt that the suburbs are often missing fitness studios of this style.
“People are even on TikTok talking about how they are tired of driving into the city or they are wanting these types of places that are within reach for them and within their community,” Anderson said. “I felt like Sugar Land would be the perfect community—it has so much potential.”
Looking forward
Anderson said a portion of the proceeds in October will go to hospitals to support breast cancer awareness.
