The Barbara Bush Branch Library is set to celebrate its golden anniversary in the Spring-Klein area in October.

To commemorate the library’s anniversary, the nonprofit Barbara Bush Library Friends is organizing a week of events from Oct. 19 to Oct. 23.
The library will turn 50 years old on Oct. 22, BBLF Vice President Ann Marek confirmed. It is one of 29 libraries in the Harris County Public Library system.
Activities will start at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 with kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. On Oct. 21, visitors can create DIY gold leaf pumpkins and diamond art at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
Attendees can celebrate the library’s birthday Oct. 22 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The celebration will have historical displays, refreshments, door prizes, information on future projects and a musical performance from DACAMERA, an internationally recognized chamber music and jazz organization. What else?
The week will wind down with a screening of The Librarians, a documentary that explores how book bans impact Texas communities. The documentary will be shown upstairs from 6:30-9 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
There will also be events for children throughout the week, including a birthday-themed PJ storytime. BBLF will hold additional anniversary events for patrons during the week.
